    Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Field Safety Manager / Global Functional Owner at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

    The position of Global Field Safety Manager is a permanent salary position within the Air Products Project Execution Team. This position reports to the Regional Construction Manager, will manage the Global Construction and Commissioning Safety Program, and support Regional Field Safety Managers. Key responsibilities of this position are to act as the Global Functional Owner for Field Safety and provide Global Safety Training, Tool and Program Development and Implementation, Management and Oversight for all Procedures and Work Instructions required to exceed field safety targets.

    The Global Field Safety Manager will travel 20-70% of the time, including international, and permanently reside in one of the regional Project Execution centers.

    This position will be accountable for:

    • Benchmarking with regional, peer, and industrial safety programs and best practices to develop, maintain, and institutionalize the Air Products "Best in Class" Global Field Safety Program.
    • Collaborating effectively and aligning with all regions' site personnel to drive effective site safety program and culture.
    • Overseeing the assessment and expedient reporting of incidents to determine immediate actions and implementation of lessons learned.
    • Gathering, control, and analysis of safety data using technology and analytical tools to enable proactive programs and incident avoidance
    • Leading and be the point of contact for reporting of Safety data, analytics, incidents, and program advancement to Leadership Team, and have dotted line reporting to Corporate EH&S team.


    The Field Safety Manager shall:

    • Display all the characteristics of Air Products Leadership in the office and field and includes being a Leader of Safety on the site, with Regional Safety Managers, with the workforce, commissioning team, and operations/clients, and customers.
    • Deliver the expedient and clear communication of incidents to Project Execution Leadership.
    • Own, Manage, and Maintain Air Products Field Safety Work Processes, Standards, Procedures, Data, and Tools.
    • Collaborate with each Regional Safety Managers: address and correct Safety Inefficiencies, Institute additional programs and processes.
    • Collaborate with Global Procurement to update and maintain Contractor Screening Program


    Candidates must have:

    • An attitude and demonstrated competency to deliver World Class Safety on a construction site.
    • Demonstrated record of high performance with minimum 15 years of direct Industrial Construction Safety experience.
    • Demonstrated leadership, integrity and interpersonal skills.


    Candidates will be evaluated based on the following Certifications:

    • Certified Safety Professional (Board of Certified Safety Professionals)
    • Certified Safety & Health Manager from Institute for Safety & Health Management
    • Construction Health and Safety Technician Board of Certified Safety Professionals
    • OSHA 500 Construction Certification (Ability to instruct on OSHA 10 and 30)
    • NEBOSH Diploma/Certificate (Regional and Global Certifications)
    • Construction Design & Management (CDM)
    • Membership of Professional Safety Body: IOSH, IIRSM, APS, ASSE, etc.
    • Auditable record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
    • Environmental Qualifications - IEMA, CHMM-Certified Hazardous Materials Manager
    • First Aid, CPR First Aid Instructor Certification
    • Confined Space Supervisor and Rescue
